Well, it’s no secret that the average IQ of a deaf person is lower than that of a hearing person. But don’t let that fool you - there are plenty of deaf people out there who have achieved great things! In fact, many deaf people have gone on to become successful professionals in their chosen fields. So while the average IQ may be lower, it doesn’t mean that all deaf people are limited in their potential. Far from it! With hard work and dedication, anything is possible - even for those with hearing impairments. Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll see a deaf Nobel Prize winner!

Well, these results are pretty interesting! 63 deaf children had a mean IQ of 98.1, with a range of 52-129. 77 more deaf kids had an average IQ of 101.1, ranging from 61-147. Then there was the study by Brill in 1962 which looked at 1312 deaf kids aged 5-16 and found their mean IQ to be 104.9. Mary P Mira’s study in 1962 looked at 60 preschoolers with an average age of 4.77 and found their mean IQs to be 96.32 and 108.86 respectively - and there were 41 more!
The average IQ of a deaf person is typically lower than that of someone with normal hearing, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less capable. In fact, many deaf people have gone on to do amazing things and prove that intelligence isn’t just about numbers. So don’t write them off - they’ve got plenty of potential!
